The Belmore Court & Motel began life in 1990 and at present has 60 bedrooms as well as a Lodge at Lough Erne.

The Tourism Northern Ireland & AA registered four-star Guest Accommodation, and the four-star self-catering Lodge at Lough Erne is owned and operated by Blakely Mc Cartney Ltd. This company has two directors, Terry McCartney and Mary McCartney.

The Motel was the brainchild of Raymond McCartney, former owner of the Lough Erne and Killyhevlin Hotels. After travelling extensively in USA he recognised the opportunity to open an accommodation base without the need for a bar or restaurant in the right location. In 1989, Raymond bought the current premises, adapting Wickham Drive into Northern Ireland’s first Motel with 30 bedrooms. Terry McCartney took over the business in 1995 and has managed the property ever since. Additional bedrooms were added in 2008 to bring the total to 60, along with the Lodge at Lough Erne.

In recent years, COVID has had a massive impact on business. While most of the rooms were closed for some time to leisure travellers, the Standard Rooms remained open as “Self-Contained” units to accommodate key workers and anyone with housing issues.

Membership of Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism and Northern Ireland Hotels’ Federation and continues to help with marketing and business planning.

The Belmore Court & Motel needs to adapt to the rapidly changing market by providing a better standard of bedrooms/furnishings and increased service to the current and future markets.
