A Spring Somethings Inspired 3-day itinerary

Explore Enniskillen – Ireland’s Only Island Town

Day 1

Visit Enniskillen Castle

Set on the edge of the River Erne, Enniskillen Castle dominates it’s home town. The visitor experience brings to life the castle’s entire 600-year history, first as the Maguire family stronghold and on through to Fermanagh’s important role in World War II. There are two museums to explore, the Inniskillings Museum and Enniskillen Castle Museums.

Private 1 Hour Boat Trip

Then experience the spectacular Lough Erne, marvel at the untouched landscape and learn about the island’s rich folklore. Your guide will tell you about Lough Erne’s fascinating history and give you a Fast Blast showing off the capabilities of the boat on the way.

This tour is non-stop and lasts approximately 1 hour. (Pre booking required)

Head to Bellanaleck so you can pay a visit to the Sheelin Lace Museum, an absolute feast for the eyes.

Once back in Enniskillen wander through the town for some unhurried shopping. Don’t forget to browse the Buttermarket craft galleries and workshops, or pop into Blakes of the Hollow, an original Victorian pub, untouched since 1887 and now a popular visitor attraction for Game of Thrones® fans with a fabled door and part of the ‘Doors of Thrones’ passport.

Bringing a whole new style of dining to the town. “The Firehouse” boasts a stone baked pizza oven and an exciting new charcoal “Bertha” oven. The Bertha oven creates that fantastic flavour that only char-grilling can impart to your favourite cut of steak, chicken or fish.

If you are looking for a tasty meal in Enniskillen you won’t be disappointed with The Firehouse and the open plan kitchen will keep you occupied as you can watch you meal being freshly prepared as you enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple.

The Executive Rooms at the Belmore Court & Motel offer unrivalled comfort and space. From the specially chosen and expertly blended Respa mattresses providing the perfect sleeping experience to the eloquently designed fabric and furnishings by Caroline McCartney these rooms will allow you to get the perfects night sleep. One of the these rooms even has a TV in the bath to catch up on your favourite soaps.

Day 2

Walk a Boardwalk

Pack your picnic and walking boots and tackle Ireland’s Stairway To Heaven – Cuilcagh Boardwalk (Legnabrocky Trail).  Bring your camera to capture the amazing views of one of the most popular places to visit.

You’ve earned a cuppa after completing the Stairway To Heaven; it is a well-known fact: tea tastes better when it’s served in Belleek cups. Take the 30-minute tour of the historic factory and witness the ongoing production of the delicate pottery. Follow that with some excellent Belleek shopping and then it will be time for the tea shop to see if your tea tastes better.

Stop by one of Fermanagh’s three National Trust properties,  Florence Court. The joys of Florence Court are obvious at any time, but Spring is even more special. Tour the mansion or explore the walled garden and pleasure grounds, and don’t miss the famous Florence Court yew tree.

Then settle down in the Catalina Restaurant, named after the World War II sea planes once based on Lough Erne. Noel McMeel, the executive chef who cooked for the G8 world leaders, serves up incredible gourmet experiences, with sumptuous dishes featuring the very best of local produce and excellent wine pairings.

Day 3

Lough Navar

Any Fermanagh local will recommend the seven-mile drive through Navar Forest. The view from the car park at the top of the cliff looks over Lough Erne from Enniskillen to Donegal and the Atlantic Ocean. It’s one of the most amazing views you will ever see. Alternatively, you can walk along the boardwalk trails in the forest. Powered boat and glide along a subterranean river and through huge underground caverns. (Please check for seasonal opening hours).

Something Old – The Headhunters Barbers Shop & Railway Museum

After lunch vist The Headhunters Barbers Shop & Railway Museum has a truly marvellous collection of memorabilia that should fascinate everyone, not just railway enthusiasts. Hear how railways opened up the lives of Fermanagh people, and if you need a haircut you can get one of those too… but no pressure, and free entry.
