“After becoming the first to install broadband in the area, the next logical step was to provide internet access for the residents of the Belmore Court Motel” stated Terry Mc Cartney – Owner of the Motel. “The benefits to our residents are two-fold. Business guests are able to securely access office networks via the Internet and send and receive e-mails on their laptops. While tourists their own laptops or the kiosk at reception to discover local information, maps, tourist information, restaurants and other accommodation for their onward journey.” Initally this will only be available in a limited number of rooms.
He continued “I was delighted to work with BT on the purchase and installation of the Openzone and I know it will help provide a useful service to guests staying at the Belmore Court Motel.”
With BT Openzone, users with either a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop/PDA or a Wireless LAN access card can access data at speeds of up to 500 kbps (almost 10 times faster than a standard 56K modem), enabling them to send and receive large quantities of information at broadband speed. Mr Mc Cartney has also been working with BT to provide a new telephone system for the Motel. The investment in this new telephony technology means that guests can now benefit from incoming calls direct to their rooms, lower priced phone calls and up-to-date telephone handsets with additional features. Staff are able to see many other features because the Meridan system is fully integrated with the new Property Management System.
HotSoft has been provded by Paragon Systems and installed by Teletec. This state of the art PMS provides daily management information with regard to room occupancy and sales figures as well as incorporating a full guest history tracking system which can be used for marketing purposes in the future.
