Mon 17 'The American Wake', St. Patrick's Day Celebrations. Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh.
Countless thousands of people left Ireland in the 18th & 19th Centuries. For many, the hours before departure became known as the ‘American or Living Wake’ when the family gathered to bid a sad farewell to the departing emigrant. This dramatic re-enactment will take place at 1.00pm & 3.00pm. NB: On the above date the museum will be open to the public from 11.00am to 5.30pm. Last admission is 4.00pm
