Marble Arch Caves
Marble Arch Caves are such an awesome feat of nature, they rank among Europe's finest show caves, allowing visitors to explore a fascinating, natural underworld of rivers, waterfalls, winding passages and lofty cathedral like chambers...much of it by boat! This underground marvel is set in a Global Geopark, a nature reserve of exceptional beauty, one of only two places in Ireland to be awarded this title by UNESCO.
The 75-minute tour of the cave complex starts with a subterranean boat trip. An expert guide then leads the way through a world of surreal rock formations, including the fantastic ‘Moses Walk’. Tours are suitable for anyone of any age and average fitness, but comfortable walking shoes and a warm sweater are advised. Booking in advance is recommended, especially for large groups. It’s also a good idea to check beforehand to make sure the caves are open.
Caves are open from May through September. Visitor facilities include: shop, parking, restaurant, exhibition area and theatre. For times, directions, current prices and to book: (web link?) Marble Arch Caves and Geopark. Marlbank Scenic Loop, Florencecourt, Tel: +44 (0)28 6634 8855.
